So we made it through 2020 and are moving forward in 2021. Every year I work on my goals but this year has been especially important to set my intentions. While 2020 was a year of learning, I believe 2021 is the year to take the lessons we learned and put them into practice.
For me 2021 is definitely a transformative year so it is especially important for me to be clear on my vision and goals for the year ahead.
To set clear goals I decided I would create a vision board to help me focus. With the pandemic there is much that is out of our control but this does not mean we should stop making future plans. This is the time we should focus most on what we want our future to look like. Although there are many things we don’t have control of we do have control over our thoughts, goals and dreams. I choose to keep my mindset positive, so that I can appreciate all that life has to offer, despite the challenges we may face.
Creating a Vision Board
The first thing I love to do when creating a vision board is to skim through magazines. I love magazines! Nothing is better than looking through beautiful images and turning actual pages rather than scrolling online. I like skimming through magazines because I can focus on the visual images that represent what I want my year to look like.
Once I choose the images for my vision board I carefully place them and glue them down on paper. This year I laminated my vision board so that I could post it up on my wall. One of my favorite purchases this year has been a laminator. I have laminated quotes, things for work and learning worksheets for my daughters. Who would have guessed that one of my favorite purchases this year would be a laminator.
For my vision board I chose the quote, “Room to Grow.” For a couple of years I have been wanting to move to a bigger house. When the pandemic hit and we began to spend more time at home, I definitely felt like I needed more space. In addition to more physical space, I also felt the need for personal growth. The quote is a reminder to give myself the space I need this year to grow and transform into the next phase of my life.
The writing at the top and the alarm clock represent my desire to wake up earlier and start my day on the right foot. My goal is to drink my water in the morning followed by coffee as I journal. I then want to make some time to walk every day. I have a goal to walk and/or jog at least 10,000 steps per day every single day. I also included a picture of the outdoors because nature is truly healing. Finally I included a little reading nook because I love to read.
I do not know what this year has in store but as long as my family and I have our health I will be happy. My other dreams for the year would be wonderful to have but even if I don’t make them a reality this year I have my family with me which is what makes me most happy in life!
